Gulf Coast Workforce Center
The Gulf Coast Workforce Center’s Veteran Program is fully prepared to assist veterans in Bay, Gulf and Franklin counties with their employment and training needs. It offers a wealth of resources, including specialized Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) staff who work solely with the veteran population and can provide veteran applicant referral. Veterans can work with a veteran’s employment specialist at the one stop centers to find jobs, acquire skills and education, plan a career, attend workshops, and take advantage of many other resources.

Specialized Veterans Programs & Referrals
Transition Assistance Program
The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) was established to offer job search assistance and related services to separating service members during their period of transition into civilian life. The TAP is a partnership between the Departments of Labor, Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs to provide employment and training information to armed forces members and their eligible spouses within one year of their separation or two years of their retirement from the military. VA Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Program
Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) is the VA program that assists veterans with service connected disabilities to obtain employment or enhance their ability to function independently at home and in the community. Vocational and educational guidance is available to assist service-members, veterans, and certain dependents of veterans in their career goals. Florida Registered Apprenticeship & Training Program
Applications for entry into this program are accepted as required by industry needs. Individuals can gain valuable on-the-job training and receive the necessary schooling to master a trade while earning a wage. Instructors for the classes are experienced journeymen who are able to give students hands-on knowledge in the construction field. Troops to Teachers
A veteran can receive up to $5,000 to pay for teacher certification and a $10,000 bonus for teaching in a “high needs” school. The e-Vets Resource Advisor
The e-Vets Resource Advisor assists veterans preparing to enter the civilian job market. TAP Employment Workshops
Returning to civilian life is an exciting time, but is also a complex undertaking. The service member has many steps to take, and many questions to get answered. The Transition Assistance Program can help. Employment workshops are held on a monthly basis at the Airman Family and Support Center at Tyndall Air Force Base. During this 3 day workshop, you will learn how to write a resume and cover letter, obtain information on skills assessment and job search techniques, and learn other important information about career and job services available. Gulf Coast State College offers degree university transfer and vocational and continuing education programs to more than 23,000 students. These students can choose from Associate of Arts Degrees, Associate of Science Degrees, Associate in Applied Science Degrees, and even some Bachelor Degrees. Other offerings include several certificate programs and credit and non-credit continuing workforce education programs through the Office of Lifelong Learning.

The Resident Center of ERAU, also at Tyndall Air Force Base offers programs for an Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Professional Aeronautics, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management of Technical Operations, and a Masters of Aeronautical Science Degree with specialization in Aeronautics or Management.
